Ernie Markos was born July 5, 1917 in Toledo, Ohio. He worked nine years with Willys Motors, where he was a fire watcher. He was a World War II army veteran and was a member of the Sherman Osborne Post of the American Legion in Temperance, Michigan. He owned 10 acres at 479 East Erie Road (between Erie and Minx Roads) in Temperance. . He lived in a trailer on the land, had also built a garage on the property and had started building his dream home when he suffered a severe stroke in the early 1950's. He never overcame the effects of the stroke and died on December 3, 1960 at the age of 42.
